Jesus replied, "What is impossible with men is possible with God."

Luke 18:27

Bonjour!

Is it just me, or did this week go by quickly?

This is a picture of a baby chick that we have, it hatched in August. We have four small chickens (including this one) and when I say small, I mean small!

In front of my house they are replacing the sidewalks. They are redoing the one on the other side of the street first, and then they will do the one on this side of the street. It is a little messy out there right now.

This year for my science class, I’m taking chemistry. It is a difficult class. (Those of you who have taken chemistry before now what I’m talking about.) Quick quiz: What is The First Law of Thermodynamics?

For math, I’m taking geometry, and so far I like it. Quick quiz: What does a reflex angle look like?

Well, I guess that’s all for right now.

Have a great weekend!

GM vs Microsoft

At a computer expo (COMDEX), Bill Gates reportedly compared the computer industry with the auto industry and stated, “If GM had kept up with technology like the computer industry has, we would all be driving $25.00 cars that got 1,000 miles to the gallon.”

In response to Bill’s comments, General Motors issued a press release stating: If GM had developed technology like Microsoft, we would all be driving cars with the following characteristics:

1. For no reason whatsoever, your car would crash twice a day.

2. Every time they repainted the lines in the road, you would have to buy a new car.

3. Occasionally your car would die on the freeway for no reason. You would have to pull to the side of the road, close all of the windows, shut off the car, restart it, and reopen the windows before you could continue. For some reason you would simply accept this.

4. Occasionally, executing a maneuver such as a left turn would cause your car to shut down and refuse to restart, in which case you would have to reinstall the engine.

5. Macintosh would make a car that was powered by the sun, was reliable, five times as fast and twice as easy to drive – but would run on only five percent of the roads.

6. The oil, water temperature, and alternator warning lights would all be replaced by a single “This Car Has Performed An Illegal Operation” warning light.

7. The airbag system would ask, “Are you sure?” before deploying.

8. Occasionally, for no reason whatsoever, your car would lock you out and refuse to let you in until you simultaneously lifted the door handle, turned the key and grabbed hold of the radio antenna.

9. Every time a new car was introduced car buyers would have to learn how to drive all over again because none of the controls would operate in the same manner as the old car.

10. You’d have to press the “Start” button to turn the engine off.

Stop and Think

So you also, when you have done everything you were told to do, should say, “We are unworthy servants; we have only done our duty.”

Luke 17:10

Giving God All the Glory

On March 27, 1808, Franz Joseph Haydn attended his last musical performance. The program featured his oratorio The Creation. He’s finished the massive work at age sixty-six, saying it had been composed to inspire “the adoration and worship of the Creator” and to put the listener “in a frame of mind where he is most susceptible to the kindness and omnipotence of the Creator.”

Haydn recalled, “Never was I so devout as when I composed The Creation. I knelt down each day to pray to God to give me strength for my work.” He told a friend, “When I was working on The Creation, I felt so impregnated with the Divine certainty that, before sitting down to the piano, I would quietly and confidently pray to God to grant me the talent that was needed to praise him worthily.”

At this March 1808 performance of his triumphant oratorio, the composer was determined that God would get all the glory for his work. As the music faded and the audience applauded enthusiastically, Haydn lifted his hands and said, “Not from me—from there, above, comes everything.”

Haydn always insisted that his talents were an unmerited gift from God—a gift that he should use to bless others. He told a group of musicians playing his Creation, “There are so few happy and contented people here below, sorrow and anxiety pursue them from everywhere; perhaps your work may, someday, become a spring from which the careworn may draw a few moments’ rest and refreshment.”

Haydn was well aware that he possessed talent at the genius level, but he always was quick to acknowledge the Author of this talent. Even his will begins: “In the Name of the Most Holy Trinity,” and continues, “My soul I bequeath to its all-bountiful Creator.”

It is all too easy to take the credit for the work we have done and to forget the Creator who enabled us to do the work. Our talents, our character, our knowledge, even our health are gifts from God, and to Him alone be all the glory.

Bible Verse

“Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where moth and rust do not destroy, and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.”

Hey!

Well it was raining in Belgium and the sky was overcast, then the sky started clearing and it stopped raining, and now the sky is covered again. What next?? We live next to the English Channel so the weather changes very quickly. (You don’t want to leave the house without your umbrella even if it looks nice outside because it could change) You’ve heard of the English fog right? Well, Belgium also has that fog, but I guess you would call it Belgian fog.

We normally escape the hot summers here, but this last summer it did get hot. Since it usually stays cooler in Belgium, most of the houses and cars are not air-conditioned. So it was nice when the temperature cooled down.

It’s hard to believe that Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Years are almost here! I mean think about it. October is almost over and then it will be November and time for Thanksgiving, and then it will be December and time for Christmas! And then it will be January and time for New Years!

Prayer Request:

You have most likely heard about Hurricane Wilma. (It is supposed to hit Florida Monday) Please pray that God would protect those that are in the path of this hurricane.

Allfornow, (all for now)

Stop and Think

We live by faith, not by sight.

2 Corinthians 5:7

Lifting weights is hard, disciplined work that causes pain. It’s the continual repair of the stressed tissue that builds the muscle. Weight lifters talk about “the good fail.” They lift a weight until their muscle gives out, or “fails.” Then they rest, letting the muscle repair itself. As a result, the muscle grows as it develops new layers of tissue. The process is hard and painful, but it produces results. Doesn’t that sound like faith? It seems it’s only when we’re pushed to our limit that we finally call out to God in our need, seeking Him at last for His help and guidance. It’s after our faith muscles have been pushed to their limit several times that we can look back and see the growth God has allowed in our lives.

The more we’re tested, the stronger our faith becomes. When all is well, God gets a little of our attention, our prayers are few and short, God is our good friend. When we’re in a time of testing, all our attention is focused on God, we’re crying out and pleading for Him to not only be our good friend, but also our Savior, our protector, and our guide through our present situation. When we have nothing to rely on, no hope to rest in, no “big daddy” with a blank check to cover our needs, that’s when God has our full attention. These can be the conditions that strengthen our faith.

Pillsbury Doughboy

This came through the email and I thought you might enjoy reading it!

Please join me in remembering a great icon of the entertainment community. The Pillsbury Doughboy died yesterday of a yeast infection and trauma complications from repeated pokes in the belly. He was 71. Doughboy was buried in a lightly greased coffin. Dozens of celebrities turned out to pay their respects, including Mrs. Butterworth, Hungry Jack, the California Raisins, Betty Crocker, the Hostess Twinkies, and Captain Crunch.

The grave site was piled high with flours.

Aunt Jemima delivered the eulogy and lovingly described Doughboy as a man who never knew how much he was kneaded.

Doughboy rose quickly in show business, but his later life was filled with turnovers. He was not considered a very smart cookie, wasting much of his dough on half-baked schemes. Despite being a little flaky at times he still was a crusty old man and was considered a roll model for millions.

Doughboy is survived by his wife Play Dough, two children, John Dough and Jane Dough, plus they had one in the oven. He is also survived by his elderly father, Pop Tart. The funeral was held at 3:50 for about 20 minutes.

Have a great day!

Stop and Think

How many are your works, O Lord! In wisdom you made them all; the earth is full of your creatures.

Psalm 104: 24

Did you know that Beethoven got inspiration for his music through nature? He appreciated God's creation. Unlike many of us who go through life in a hurry and never stop to just enjoy the beautiful world around us. God created this world for our pleasure. But how often do we truly appreciate His creation? How often do we thank Him for it? Stop for a minute and think about how amazing a flower is. How beautiful a bird's song is. How perfect a spider's web is. God wants us to enjoy the beauty He has created. We just need to slow down and discover His awesome world.

Bible Verse

In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.

Genesis 1:1

Hey!

Welcome to my blog! This is the first time I've done something like this so it may take me awhile to get the hang of it. Please be patient with me!
Who am I? I am a homeschooled, Christian girl.
What am I going to post on this blog? Well I'll post things that I find interesting or helpful. I love funny things, so every once in a while you may find a joke or two. I love listening to and playing music (Classical, Christian contemporary, etc.) so I'll write some about that. Since I'm a Christian, I plan on posting a verse from the Bible every week. And I'll write about other various subjects as well.
Thanks for dropping by!!
